The Narrows

One of the hikes that we have been dying to do at Zion is The Narrows. Well, we finally decided we will NEVER be in the shape of our lives, so we will just have to try and endure through our sore legs, tirednesss and panting because some things in life are just worth it! It was around 100 degrees the day we went, and the park was PACKED! We have never seen it so full! We were kind of annoyed because we had to park in town and hike just to get into the park to take the shuttle. Oh well... We had been debating between doing Angel's Landing or the Narrows, and we figured that since it was so hot and later in the day, we might be better off getting in the water. Boy were we glad we made that choice! Once we got in the water, we felt perfect!!! The heat of the day didn't even phase us. It was AMAZING! By far, it was my favorite hike. We got a kick out of some of the cute little old people who had their walking sticks in the water for balance. We just had each other for balance, which worked. However, there was one point where I decided to fight the river and it took me DOWN! Snaps. I got all the way soaked, but hey, you win some, you lose some. And Mother Nature is a hardass sometimes.

Me after I made a fun climb up in this little crevice.
This guy was climbing down the wall after his girlfriend had just done the same thing. It was so freakin sweet!! I wanna learn how to do that!

The cute little waterfall we got to see.

The river felt SO amazing! Not too cold, and not too hot. Plus is was beautiful!

This was right after "the battle" with Motha Natcha. Haha.

It took FOREVER to get these pictures! There were SO many people in the river it made it hard to get one shot with no heads or hats, or poles...

This trip, we ran into a baby rattlesnake! We had just finished hiking and were waiting for the shuttle to pick us back up, and I saw a cool tree. So, I lean up against a little fence to take a picture, and as I'm finishing and backing up from the fence, Brett screams like a girl cuz he see's a snake. We did a little "up-close-and-personal" investigation, but backed off again pretty quick when we realized the little guy had a rattle on the end of his tail. Brett joked that it was our second near-death experience in just a few days, because we had just gotten in a car accident a couple nights before. Who doesn't love a little excitement in their lives?
At the end of the day, we took the drive through the famous tunnel to HWY 89, and went up to Duck Creek to visit Brett's grandparents. We had a fun time playing "Zilch", despite the fact that Brett's Grandpa Grant has us beat every, single time! As we were leaving, we caught a glimpse of the moon which was HUGE!!! I was freakin out because I love when there is a pretty, full moon! It's amazing! This one wasn't next to the ocean, but the pine trees in the background sure made it beautiful anyway.
